Cement Ball Mill Structure
A cement ball mill consists of several key components, including a horizontal cylindrical shell, liner plates, feeding and discharging hollow shafts, and grinding media. The mill body is a long, steel-constructed cylinder that houses a set of grinding balls. Inside the cylinder, ball mill liners are fixed to the surface to protect the structure and enhance the grinding efficiency. The grinding media are typically steel balls of varying sizes, arranged in a specific ratio to ensure optimal grinding. In some ball mills, instead of steel balls, steel rods or segments may be used as the grinding media, depending on the specific milling requirements.
Cement Ball Mill Working Principle
Cement clinkers are introduced into the first grinding chamber via the ball mill's feeding system, where they are crushed and broken down to a specific size by the larger grinding balls. The material then passes through an intermediate diaphragm into the second chamber, where smaller grinding balls continue to refine the cement further. Once ground, the materials are discharged through the lower outlet of the discharge device and pass through a discharge grate plate. A cement separator then sorts the materials-coarser particles are returned to the mill for further grinding, while the finely ground particles are released as finished cement.
