Activated Carbon Rotary Kiln
Product Description
The activated carbon rotary kiln is a highly efficient piece of equipment widely used in the production of activated carbon. Known for its advanced design, it offers several benefits including easy operation, low emissions, high output, and strong productivity, making it a reliable choice for modern carbon processing.
Activated carbon produced by a rotary kiln features a high chemical reactivity, low bulk density, and a large specific surface area. Due to these properties, it plays a vital role as a key auxiliary material in industries such as steelmaking, coking, and calcium carbide production all over the world.

Applications
1. Environmental protection case: It plays an important role in wastewater treatment, flue gas purification and air purification.
2. Chemical industry: In chemical production, activated carbon is used as catalyst carrier or adsorbent. Rotary kiln is responsible for the process of high-temperature activation.
3. Food industry: The activated carbon produced by the activated carbon rotary kiln is widely used in syrup decolorization, drinking water purification, and filtration and clarification of drinks.
4. Pharmaceutical industry: Activated carbon is used in the medical field for drug purification, removal of impurities, and in the process of drugs synthesis.
5. Energy industry: Activated carbon can be used as an energy storage material, such as electrode materials in super capacitors, while the rotary kiln is responsible for providing a high-temperature environment to improve the ability of electric conduction.
Detailed Information
● The pre-treated raw materials are fed into rotary kiln through feeding device. The kiln body rotates slowly , at the same time, materials are evenly distributed within the kiln and continuously rotated.
● The temperature inside the rotary kiln is usually controlled between 800°C and 1200°C. At high temperatures, the organic matter in the raw materials undergoes pyrolysis reactions, decomposing into volatile substances (such as methane, carbon monoxide, etc.), leaving a porous carbon skeleton structure.
● The carbonized material after pyrolysis needs further activation to increase the specific surface area and adsorption performance. Activation is usually achieved by introducing water vapor, carbon dioxide, or other chemical gases. These gases react with the surface of the carbonized material, enhancing its adsorption capacity.
● The activated carbon is discharged from the end of the rotary kiln, then enters the cooling system for temperature reduction to prevent oxidation or combustion.
● Some flue gases (such as CO, CO₂, CH₄, etc.) will be produced during the high-temperature pyrolysis and activation process. These exhaust gases need to be treated by special environmental protection equipment to reduce the impact on the environment.
