Product Description

Twin-shaft PFR lime kiln installation for continuous quicklime production

Two Shafts Working as One Thermal System

A PFR lime kiln combines two connected vertical shafts. While one shaft burns the fuel and calcines the stone, hot gas crosses into the other shaft to preheat its charge. The duties then reverse. AGICO CEMENT configures the kiln around limestone chemistry, screened size, fuel, quicklime quality, output, site conditions, and emission requirements.

Product Advantages

Practical Control for Repeatable Trials

Four engineering priorities make laboratory results easier to compare and apply.

Regenerative Heat Use

AGICO's PFR kiln transfers useful heat to the non-burning shaft, preheating the next charge before the following firing cycle.

Controlled Soft Burning

Parallel-flow calcination helps limit local overheating and supports reactive quicklime when stone quality and operating conditions are suitable.

Balanced Gas Distribution

Charging, burner-lance distribution, shaft geometry, and the crossover passage are coordinated to support predictable flow through the stone bed.

Integrated Plant Control

AGICO coordinates weighing, charging, shaft reversal, firing, cooling air, discharge, and exhaust handling through one control strategy.

Working Process

Alternating Burning and Regeneration

The two shafts exchange duties on a timed cycle while limestone moves downward and quicklime is discharged continuously.

Charge Sized Limestone

Screened stone is weighed and distributed between the shafts. Controlled grading supports bed permeability and heat transfer.

Calcine in Parallel Flow

Fuel and combustion air enter the active shaft from above and move with the stone through the burning zone.

Recover Heat Across Shafts

Hot gas crosses to the regenerative shaft and heats the cooler limestone before leaving the kiln.

Reverse and Discharge

The shafts exchange duties, while cooled quicklime is removed continuously through the sealed discharge system.

Firing, Air and Monitoring

Burner lances, fuel preparation, combustion air, cooling air, valves, fans, and instruments are selected for the fuel and required operating duty.
02

Charging, Discharge and Gas Cleaning

Screening, weighing, controlled charging, sealed discharge, product conveying, exhaust handling, and dust collection connect the kiln to the full lime plant.

FAQ

What feed information does AGICO need to select a PFR lime kiln?

AGICO needs a recent stone analysis, full screened size distribution, fines content, bulk density, moisture, required quicklime quality, fuel data, and planned daily output.

Can a PFR kiln use more than one fuel?

Fuel flexibility can be engineered into the firing and safety systems. AGICO CEMENT evaluates calorific value, ash, sulfur, pressure, preparation needs, and local availability.

Why is limestone sizing important for this kiln?

The shafts operate as packed beds. AGICO specifies a controlled size range so gas passes through the stone evenly and pressure loss remains manageable.

How is the two-shaft cycle controlled?

Valves, fans, charging equipment, fuel delivery, and discharge devices follow an interlocked sequence. AGICO coordinates each reversal without interrupting continuous product discharge.
